RoadMaster Rebuilt Engines News Short Block or Long Block?
RoadMaster Rebuilt Engines

Everyday here at Roadmaster I get asked what a short block is or what a long block is. The short and long blocks are not the big block and small block. Are you confused yet? Let me see if I can make this clearer than mud.
A long block is an engine minus outer items such as valve covers, flywheel, oil pan, timing cover, intake and exhaust manifolds and harmonic balancer. Generally, a short block is any long block engine minus components like cylinder head(s), oil pump, gaskets, lifters, sometimes timing components and camshaft. Roadmaster sells short and long blocks. We can supply you with what you need in a remanufactured engine, whether it's a short block or whether it's a long block. Our prices are fair and our service is superb. An important thought worth considering, short blocks are falling into disfavor because by the time you buy the short block and the mandatory lifters, gaskets, oil pump and such, you end up spending more money than you would have spent buying a long block in the first place. Also if you buy the short block you may have to pay your mechanic more money to install it because it takes more time and then when it's all finished the engine warranty only covers the bottom (short) half of the engine.
